Anything above 75F is too hot. Here, it's c. 92F. Even walking 400 yards this morning, for reading over a soy latte, was itself an adventure.
Returning from morning latte & reading to an e-flurry of various arisings, a call from John Sinks: at 06.25 this morning all the equipment - Lunar Module, guitars et al - were still on the West Coast & the shipping company were waiting to see if it would make a flight. The decision was taken to go ahead with the performance, whether the equipment arrived or not.
19.03 Ram's Head, Annapolis.
Doors are opening. The gear landed at Dulles around 17.30 but we are not sure when it might arrive at the venue. Gigster's Instinct suggests two days are required for bi-coastal equipment-shipping but this Happy Gigster was over-ruled by shipping-company assurances that one day was sufficient. They lied.
23.49 Hotel Adequate.
Doors opened 19.00; RF onstage at 20.00 (for the words part of words & music); Equipment arrived just after 21.00; Soundscapes c. 22.10 after John & Biff re-constructed onstage an Eventide damaged by dropping, most likely coming into the club.
The Rams Head is a good venue & tonight's audience very generous & patient. Perhaps they preferred the conversation to the Soundscapes, but what do I know?
Patrick & Joan were the two Four Quarter Maintainers in attendance, contributing significantly.
While John was packing up, a man at the front of the stage told John he felt cheated – only 40 minutes of music! My own sense was the audience were through at 30, and the remaining 10 minutes was already a step too far.
